For 2008, our 11th annual show, was held on June 14th at
the Canadian Tire at the corner of Merivale and Hunt Club Rd.
in Nepean, Ontario. The day started with rain and a weather
forecast for thundershowers and rain for the whole day. But
that didn't dampen the spirits of those that came out to help
the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Cars started showing up as
early as 7:00am from places as far away as Cornwall.
As the morning went on, the skies threaten but the rain stayed
away and eventually the sun came out. Cars kept coming and
by noon we had over 100 of Ottawa's finest cars.
Although we were hoping for closer to 300 cars, the
weather forecast scared away some. Those that did attend
were treated to hundreds of giveaways and lots of
awesome door prizes.
Canadian Tire brought their Nascar Promoting team which
handed out lots of
sample and full size
products.
Unfortunately, their
simulator trailer was broken into and wrecked a week before
and they could not bring to our event.
The day was also a chance to showcase our new raffle car for
the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Our 1932 Ford Hot Rod
was the centre of attraction and was well received. Although
not completely finished, people didn't seem to care and were
anxious for us to start selling ticket.
