| After finishing the engine assembly, Jean Paul crated up the motor and drove it to the Engines Extra shop in Kingston where they have a hydraulic Dynometer. This machine tests the torque and horsepower output of an engine by having the engine push against a flow of water. Using software, they can graph and chart exactly how the engine performs at every rpm level. With the engine installed on the Dyno, Jean Paul connects the dozen probes and sensors that will tell the software such things as, cylinder pressures, oil pressure, temp., spark timing and much more so the software can accurately calculate how much “Giddy-up” our 302 has. Keep in mind, the 302 engine when installed as stock in the 86 Crown Victoria Wagon we took it from had about 180 horspower maximun output. |
